Fellowships
CLC welcomes applicants interested in crafting proposals for fellowship projects (such as the Skadden Fellowship Foundation, Equal Justice Works, the Justice Catalyst Fellowship, and others) to begin in Fall 2024. CLC is interested in applicants with specific projects in mind (areas of specialization include mental health, immigration, education, and juvenile justice) and applicants who do not have a particular project in mind but desire to work in a specialty area within CLC. Please see the timeline and requirement details below.Â
REQUIREMENTS:
- Letter of Interest – In one page, please discuss why you are interested in applying for a fellowship with CLC. If applicable, describe your general project idea or the issue(s) you are most interested in addressing. Please note that a specific project idea is not required, and its absence will not necessarily impact your application negatively.
- Current resume/C.V.
- References – Please include three references, preferably individuals familiar with your performance in law school and/or related to any recent internships or places of employment.
- Must be able to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination plus booster status.

Current and Past Fellows
Tamar Alexanian
Skadden Fellow, CLCLA4 / University of Michigan Law SchoolTamar joins CLC as a Skadden Fellow, working with Phyllis Stricklan, our Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Tamar’s two-year project will enforce the rights of CLC’s LGBTQ+ clients to secure gender-affirming care for transgender and gender non-conforming youth and appropriate foster placements for all LGBTQ youth. Tamar will also focus on developing and providing training to key stakeholders and coalition-building with our local partners. At Michigan, Tamar was a graduate student instructor in the Women’s Studies Department and participated in the Human Trafficking and Child Welfare Appellate Clinics. Rosie Frihart-Lusby
Equal Justice Works Fellow, CLCLA4 / USC Gould School of LawRosie joins CLC as an Equal Justice Works Fellow. Sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Rosie’s two-year project will provide advocacy for our clients’ Regional Center eligibility and access to services. Rosie is a Teach for America alum with experience at the LA County Public Defender Office and Learning Rights Law Center. She enjoys film history, traveling, and playing the autoharp. Kaveh Landsverk
UCLA Pritzker Center-Children’s Law Center Post-Bar Law Clerk, CLCLA4In CLC4, Kaveh will be working specifically on stopping the cycle of intergenerational child welfare involvement by providing legal support to expectant and parenting youth—an opportunity made possible through a partnership with the UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families. Kaveh holds M.A. and M.Phil. degrees from Columbia University and worked extensively while in law school in a number of public defender and criminal defense offices and clinics.  Read more about Kaveh and CLC’s partnership with the UCLA Priztker Center.
