Client Stories

CLC is committed to elevating the voices of children in foster care. Through our peer advocate program and beyond, we believe that youth are the experts of their own experiences and that their vision should drive our priorities and shape the policies that impact their lives. In partnership with Director Joanna Friedman of Magnify, we are thrilled to share a collection of videos at our annual Art of Advocacy Gala. These videos spotlight CLC clients sharing with you – in their own words – their experiences in foster care and the role CLC has played for them and their families.

Meet Ty

CLC works with youth who are part of California’s Extended Foster Care program (AB12), like Ty. Ty shares her story and the role CLC played in helping her reach her goals. Since filming, we’re excited to share that Ty was accepted into a transitional housing program!

Meet April

CLC advocates for expectant or parenting youth (EPY) in foster care. Our EPY team supports clients like April to access critical resources and prevent future child welfare involvement. April shares her story of resilience and how CLC helped her in reunifying with her son, Eric.

Meet Hector

Family is at the heart of our advocacy. As such, CLC strives to keep families together! If a child cannot reside with their parents, the preferred placement is in the home of a loving relative. Watch the video to learn how with CLC’s advocacy Hector was able to unite with his grandmother.
