Advocates in Action 2025: A Night to Remember

On October 23, 2025, hundreds of supporters gathered inside Union Station’s Historic Ticket Concourse for Children’s Law Center of California’s Advocates in Action Gala, a powerful evening celebrating advocacy, community, and hope for children and youth in foster care.

Guests enjoyed a night filled with heartfelt stories, inspiring speeches, and remarkable generosity — all in support of CLC’s mission to protect, advocate for, and empower children and families across California.

Honoring Champions for Children

This year’s honorees embodied the very spirit of advocacy and compassion that drives CLC’s work:

  • Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio, recognized for her steadfast leadership and legislative efforts to protect children and strengthen families in the child welfare system.
  • BÉIS, honored for restoring dignity to youth in foster care through their thoughtful donation of stylish, functional luggage — ensuring that children facing difficult transitions do so with pride and confidence.
  • CarePortal, celebrated for uniting communities of faith to meet the tangible needs of children and families in crisis.

A Community United for Change

CLC’s Youth Advisory Council brought energy and authenticity to the evening, sharing their lived experiences and reminding everyone why this work matters. Guests enjoyed delicious food from LA Roots, signature cocktails, and a lively live auction that filled the room with excitement and generosity.

Throughout the evening, paddles were raised high, and hearts opened wide — helping CLC continue providing critical legal representation, advocacy, and holistic support for more than 20,000 children and youth in foster care each year.

Thank You

We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, honorees, volunteers, and guests for making Advocates in Action an unforgettable success. Your commitment helps CLC continue building brighter futures for children and families across California.

Art of Advocacy Gala 2024

What a night! Thank you to everyone who joined us at Art of Advocacy Gala 2024. The evening was truly beautiful and inspiring, made even more special by your presence.

Our honorees—Chris Lakey of Kobalt Music and the ABB Financial Literacy Coaches—reminded us of the incredible work being done to create brighter futures for children in foster care. Our guest speaker, author Andrew Bridge, touched our hearts with powerful insights. Latin Grammy-winning musician, Spencer Ludwig, brought energy and joy to the night with his vibrant performance.

Thank you to all the individuals, companies and organizations who supported the event. Your generosity is vital to helping us serve over 20,000 youth in foster care across Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Placer County. If you didn’t have a chance to give, it’s not too late! Art of Advocacy Gala 2023

Thank you to all who joined us for The Art of Advocacy Gala! The evening was warm – and the energy at the event was even warmer! Everyone enjoyed a beautiful evening of friendship, music from DJ Krazy, live art from GaKnew Roxwell, and delicious food.

Thank you to our amazing host, Angela Gibbs, whose humor and charm sparkled on stage. Champion Award honoree, Mayor Karen Bass, inspired us to keep fighting for those whose voices often go unheard, and reminded us that a society is best judged by how it treats its children. We were also grateful to honor Joseph D. Mandel and Jenny Sheets for their dedication to CLC and ongoing contributions to children in foster care.

Big Day of Giving

Big Day of Giving (BDOG) is an annual 24-hour day of giving hosted by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. The day is an opportunity for donors to show their community pride and support the nonprofits that make our region great. Each May, CLC joins non-profts across the region to rally support for our community.
