Join Us for Sacramento Empower Hour – a Backpack Stuffing Event!
We’re excited to invite you to a special happy hour of community, connection, and giving back!
On Tuesday, August 26th, join Children’s Law Center of California at Prelude Kitchen & Bar in Sacramento for a meaningful cause — stuffing backpacks with all the school essentials for children and youth in the foster care system while having plenty of opportunity to directly support our work.
Come mix and mingle with fellow supporters, learn more about CLC and the clients we serve in Northern California, enjoy great bites and beverages, and help us ensure that every young person we serve starts the school year with the tools they need to succeed. We will have lots of great raffle prizes and many opportunities to go home with something great!
Whether you choose to fill a backpack, or simply show up with a big heart, your presence makes a difference. Together, we’ll pack hope, confidence, and opportunity into every bag.
Date: Tuesday, August 26, 2025
Location: Prelude Kitchen & Bar, Sacramento
There us no cost to attend the event, but there will be lots of ways to give!
Let’s kick off the school year with love, purpose, and a whole lot of school supplies. We can’t wait to see you there!

Congratulations, Judge Robinson!

Please join us in congratulating our very own Brenda Robinson on her appointment to serve as a Judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court! Brenda has been with Children’s Law Center of California for nearly 25 years – serving as a fierce advocate, inspiring leader, and dedicated mentor. No matter the role: staff attorney, supervising attorney, or policy expert, Brenda is known for her grace, professionalism, and deep commitment to CLC’s clients.
In addition to her incredible legal work, Brenda has mentored countless attorneys, spoken at national conferences, championed race equity, and served as Chair of the ABA Commission on Youth at Risk. She’s been a relentless fighter for youth and families, a powerful voice for race equity, and an inspiration to colleagues across the legal field.
She will be missed, but we are thrilled to see her take this next step. The bench—and our community—are incredibly lucky to have her.
Congratulations, Judge Robinson!
Thank You, For Goodness Cakes!
At CLC we believe that every child and youth should be celebrated, but the celebration should be extra special on birthdays or on days of accomplishment like graduation! Thanks to our incredible partners at For Goodness Cakes, that celebration often comes in the form of a beautiful, handcrafted cake made with love.
For Goodness Cakes has brought so much happiness to the children and youth we serve, delivering joy one cupcake (or cake!) at a time. These treats do more than just satisfy a sweet tooth – they send a powerful message to our clients: You matter. You are seen. You are loved.
What makes this even more special? Every cake is baked by a volunteer – someone who gives their time, creativity, and heart to brighten a child’s day. It’s that personal touch that makes each delivery feel like a warm hug and a memory that lasts forever.
From all of us at CLC and the kids we serve: thank you, For Goodness Cakes. Your kindness, generosity, and delicious desserts continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients. You remind us that sometimes a small gesture like a candle, a cake, and a note of encouragement can spark the biggest smiles.
