Save the Date! Advocates in Action Gala
CLC is thrilled to share that Advocates in Action 2026 will once again be hosted at the beautiful and historic Union Station. If you joined us last year, you know how special the evening was – and if you missed it, this is your chance to experience the magic. As always, we will honor three extraordinary champions who have dedicated their time, talent, and treasure to improving the lives of children and youth in the foster care system.
Advocates in Action is CLC’s marquee event, featuring exceptional cuisine, our signature cocktail, and powerful stories shared by CLC staff and clients. The evening is both a celebration of our most dedicated supporters and a critical fundraiser for our Client Needs Fund – a flexible resource that allows us to respond quickly when our clients need us most.
Through the Client Needs Fund, CLC provides independence through rental assistance, safety through emergency transportation, opportunity through school books and supplies, joy through birthday gifts, and so much more. These tangible supports make an immediate and meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.
We hope you will save the date and plan to join us for the 2026 Advocates in Action Gala. Your presence is truly a gift.

Congratulations to CLC’s New Child Welfare Law Specialists!
We are proud to welcome two new Child Welfare Law Specialists (CWLS) to CLC’s growing ranks.
By earning CWLS certification, attorneys demonstrate specialized knowledge, advanced skill, and verified expertise in child welfare law. Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements, show a history of exemplary performance, and successfully complete a comprehensive examination — among many other standards.
Obtaining CWLS certification is one of the highest distinctions in this field and a true testament to an attorney’s dedication to excellence on behalf of children and youth in the foster care system.
Please join us in congratulating Javier Barraza and Samantha Bhuiyan as they join the distinguished ranks of CWLS-certified advocates. We are so proud of their commitment to the clients we serve.

CLC Celebrates Black History Month
As Black History Month comes to a close, we remain committed to honoring the legacy, resilience, and contributions of Black leaders, families, and communities who have shaped our work – and who have been impacted by it.
We are reminded that it is our responsibility to continue advancing justice, equity, and dignity for all, and to recognize that Black history is deeply woven into the work we do every day.
To celebrate the month, CLC hosted events across our three offices, including Black History trivia. Prizes and sweet treats were sourced from Black-owned businesses in our communities. We invite you to check out the links below to learn more and support their incredible work.
These moments remind us that Black History Month is a celebration of Black culture, Black excellence, and the enduring strength of communities that embody pride, resilience, and joy – this month and always.
