CLC Immigration Unit
The children and youth represented by CLC face unique challenges that change and evolve with the world around us. One of the special populations we serve are children in the foster care system with complex immigration needs. Navigating immigration processes can be overwhelming, especially for young children who have experienced significant hardships, including family separation or other traumatic events.
Established in 2019, CLC’s Immigration Unit was created to meet the growing needs of our clients. Our dedicated team provides comprehensive support and anticipates an increased demand for these services. Our immigration unit assists clients by:
- Assessing eligibility for immigration reliefÂ
- Obtaining necessary immigration recordsÂ
- Drafting and reviewing Special Immigrant Juvenile Requests and Findings in dependency courtÂ
- Offering personalized case management supportÂ
- Representing clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Executive Office for Immigration Review CourtsÂ
- Connecting clients to pro bono immigration legal servicesÂ
- Educating youth on their immigration rights and optionsÂ
- Supporting legislative initiatives related to immigrationÂ
- Training dependency attorneys and stakeholders on immigration issuesÂ
Many of the children supported by our immigration team have faced challenges that no child should endure. From the fear of family separation to possible deportation, they carry heavy burdens.
CLC’s dedicated Immigration Unit is committed to treating every child with respect and compassion. With your support, we can ensure that every child we serve receives the advocacy and representation they deserve throughout their immigration journey.

Thank You California Community Foundation and Hilton Foundation
CLC extends its heartfelt gratitude to the California Community Foundation and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation for their generous grants as part of their wildfire recovery efforts. At CLC, our foremost priority is the health, safety, and well-being of the children we serve.
During times of crisis, identifying critical resources and maintaining our commitment to providing high-quality legal representation becomes even more challenging. Helping children rebuild their lives is no easy task. However, with the support of our community and generous partners like the California Community Foundation and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, we are empowered and better equipped to help these children overcome adversity and thrive.
Thank you for standing with us and for your unwavering commitment to the well-being of children in need.

CLC’s Financial Literacy Program is Back!
After a successful pilot program last year, CLC has officially launched our new Financial Literacy Program! Last week, CLC staff, coaches, and youth came together to begin this exciting journey.
Over the next six weeks, participants will gain invaluable skills, including how to build an emergency fund, make informed decisions on large purchases, and navigate income taxes. They will also learn how to protect their investments, grow their credit, and manage spending and borrowing responsibly—all while building a supportive network to guide them along the way.
Our dedicated coaches are comprised of attorneys, finance professionals, entrepreneurs, doctoral students, CLC staff, and board members! These coaches will be available throughout the duration of the program and in real-time if a youth needs support or guidance making real-life decisions about finances or spending.
We are grateful to our coaches for their time and expertise and to our clients for making an investment in their future. Life as a young person can be difficult to navigate, and it is not lost on us that our clients are making many sacrifices to be a part of this program.
A huge thank you to the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles for making this program possible with their generous support!
