January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and recommit to protecting children and youth who are vulnerable to exploitation.

At CLC, where we represent hundreds of youth in foster care who have experienced or are at risk of exploitation, our work is not limited to one month – it is a daily commitment carried out by our dedicated Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) Team.

Our clients who have experienced exploitation face complex challenges. CLC’s skilled, highly trained CSEC staff provides trauma-informed legal advocacy and case management designed to prioritize safety and stability. We understand that prevention and intervention require both legal expertise and genuine human connection.

Our staff’s dedication goes well beyond the courtroom. This holiday season, CLC’s CSEC Team came together to assemble gift bags for some of our CSEC-involved youth, including parenting youth who are caring for young children. Each bag was thoughtfully prepared with practical items and comforting touches, offering not just support, but a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

These acts of care, paired with steadfast legal advocacy, reinforce a powerful message: there are adults who will continue to show up, advocate fiercely, and stand beside them, no matter what.

Thank you to our CSEC Team for your dedication and unwavering commitment to our clients!

Thank You She Ready Foundation!

This holiday season, the incredible Tiffany Haddish made the holidays extra special for one of CLC’s Family Support Advocacy Center clients and her family!

Sandy is an extraordinary mother of seven who works tirelessly to support her family while serving unhoused communities with unwavering dedication. Balancing the demands of her work with the challenges of raising young children, Sandy embodies resilience, compassion, and strength.

Through the She Ready Foundation, Sandy was selected to receive grocery gift cards from Diaspora Groceries, an organization committed to increasing access to healthy food and promoting financial literacy as building blocks for strong families and communities. The experience was made even more special with a surprise visit from Tiffany Haddish herself.

We are thrilled that Sandy and her family were chosen for this meaningful moment. She is a remarkable woman and a devoted mother, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make this holiday season brighter.
