Art of Advocacy DJ Announced!

Our fun night under the stars will have everyone on the dance floor thanks to our newly-announced DJ—who is in eighth grade!

DJ Krazy, also known as James-Ryan, is a well-loved community figure who has performed at many city events, including the Los Angeles Annual Kite Festival, Summer Fest on Broadway, and the Annual 4th of July event. James was recently nominated as a community hero in El Sereno and hopes to produce music one day.

We can’t wait for him to work the turn tables at the gala while we celebrate the incredible work of CLC’s staff members, honor the children and families we serve, and recognize the contributions of our amazing honorees: Mayor Karen Bass, Joe Mandel and Jenny Sheets. It will certainly be a night to remember and we hope to see you there!

September is Kinship Care Month

September is Kinship Care Month. Our dedicated staff here at CLC try to keep our young clients living with relatives whenever possible when they cannot remain safely with their parents. Kinship care can help children maintain family connections and cultural traditions. Plus, it can help minimize the trauma of family separation.

This month, and all year long, Kinship caregivers deserve support and resources. Below you’ll find links to share with any caregivers you know.

CLC Policy Update

Great News! As the 2023 legislative season winds down, we are excited to share that 7 bills sponsored or co-sponsored by CLC (AB 20AB 448AB 867AB 937AB 1112AB 1512AB 1756) have made their way to the Governor’s desk!

These bills received bi-partisan unanimous support in both the Assembly & Senate, and we are grateful to the authors of these bills (ASM Gipson, ASM Juan Carrillo, ASM McKinnor, ASM Bryan, and Speaker Rivas) for consistently championing to improve the lives of children & youth in foster care.

Now, we need YOUR help.  Please urge Governor Newsom to sign these crucial, life-changing bills.  Click below to learn more about these bills and find template letters of support.
