This May, we invite you to help uplift mothers navigating the foster care system, along with the dedicated caregivers and mother figures who step in with love, strength, and unwavering support when it’s needed most.
Each year, we support hundreds of Expectant and Parenting Youth (EPY) – young people who are pregnant or already raising children while also managing the realities of foster care. These young parents are learning, growing, and showing up for their children every single day – often without the consistent support systems many of us rely on. We walk alongside them, ensuring they have the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to build stable, loving futures for themselves and their families.
As Mother’s Day approaches, we’re holding space for the young mothers in our community – many of whom are experiencing their very first Mother’s Day. It’s a moment filled with pride, love, and hope, but also uncertainty. A small act of support can make a meaningful difference as they prepare for this new chapter.

While our attorneys are advocating for our clients in the courtroom every day, our policy advocates are working just as tirelessly behind the scenes – partnering with lawmakers, testifying at hearings, and helping shape laws that improve outcomes for children in foster care across California.
This legislative season, CLC is proud to support and co-sponsor several bills aimed at strengthening protections, removing barriers, and ensuring that young people in the child welfare system have access to the care, stability, and opportunities they deserve.
