School Bells are Ringing!

As we say goodbye to the dog days of summer and hello to fall, CLC is focused on our Back-to-School Drive and planning for our annual Art of Advocacy Gala.

Thanks to supporters like you, we have been able to distribute backpacks, school supplies, and more to our young clients. It’s not too late to shop our wish list of school supplies. If you have questions about our Back-to-School Drive, please email talaveras@clccal.org. We are grateful for our incredible donors who have helped our clients start the school year with confidence!

NACC’s 45th National Child Welfare Law Conference Recap

CLC was thrilled to join the top leaders in child welfare law from across the country for the 45th National Child Welfare Law Conference. This year’s theme focused on Bridging Theory to Practice: Learning & Unlearning to Drive Effective Advocacy.

Our CLC team was well represented in Baltimore, with multiple speakers and presentations. In addition, we were honored to be on hand to see our very own Brenda Robinson receive her most deserved Outstanding Legal Advocate award.

We want to extend our gratitude to the National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC) for their leadership and organization of this conference and its focus. We are in a critical time of need for community, information-sharing, and dialogue as we redefine advocacy during a public health crisis and a movement to end racism and bias in child welfare.

Congratulations to CLC presenters Leslie Heimov, Kimberly Watson, Erika Murillo, Sue Abrams, Brenda Robinson, Raechel Ibarra, and Phyllis Stricklan!
