Take Action: Support a Right to Counsel for Children and Parents

Children and parents navigating the child welfare system deserve legal representation in the court decisions that impact their lives and futures. High-quality attorney advocacy ensures the rights of families are protected, and their voice is heard. S. 1927 includes critical provisions to establish the right to counsel for children and parents.

Children’s Law Center of California strongly supports the right to counsel provisions and commends the Senate HELP Committee for their leadership on this issue. Now is the time to act! Urge Congress to retain the proposed provision that would ensure all children and parents have legal representation by a trained attorney.
